Just signed up for Neynar to play around a bit while I'm off of work. 🫡

0.21% of all messages on the Farcaster network this week originated from apps powered by Neynar.

Went from not being able to write a single line of code in months to creating my first Farcaster bot in ~8hrs of work.

All because I decided to become a full-time stay at home dad. The mental clarity created post being with kids makes coding such a simple task.

Also, big thanks to @neynar if not for their APIs I’d be stuck on my hubs. 

Kids + Neynar for the win.

Will be playing around with Rust for this.

My plan is to pull data from Neynar on the server and use WebAssembly on the client for everything except rendering (using React components for that).

I would normally use Go but I like Rust for WebAssembly due to size.

- Ensure that key is a hex string with a 0x prefix in the signature generation (despite the fact that it's listed as type bytes)

Big thanks to @kevinoconnell @slokh @pixel @notdevin.eth and a lot of other devs for their patience while discovering these gotchas. 

We'll be able to add detections for most of these in upcoming SDK and Neynar APIs to make the errors explicit and more readable.

What's one thing that would make the Farcaster protocol better for you?

Being able to set my own reaction type (haven’t been much deeper than what I can do I Neynar, so maybe already possible at protocol level)

* completed the setup for "fling" to run via https://val.town, which now replaces my long-lost favorite startup ohlife.com. With this setup, I'll get a daily email showing me a "past fling" cast, then if I reply to the email, it will cast the reply as my "daily fling". screenshots below ...

current setup won't last (using Warpcast APIs via farcaster-js just like the old days. Will eventually move to @neynar, but haven't had time to figure out Signer stuff).

Earlier today, Neynar's signer API services mistakenly marked signers as revoked for casts, reactions and links because of a downstream hub restart. 

As of 9:15am PT, we've fixed the bug to account for disconnections and reverted the signer statuses to be marked as approved.

Do you use Warpcast APIs?  

We want to shut them down by end of year in favor of services like Neynar that are doing this as their primary focus (and will have much better quality). 

My goal is to make sure everyone can migrate to a new home easily. Please reply if you use the APIs and I'll reach out with questions.

Open to contributions! Don’t have 100% coverage of the Neynar APIs yet, but getting close

We’ve considered sharing signers but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. We offer fully managed signers but they’re individual right now. 

You’d use shared signers for Aburra @billzh ?

or maybe you can batch mint a few signers when the user pays gas for the first time and then assign the extras later?

would only work across apps using Neynar infra, but could be a UX improvement if handled smoothly on the backend

yesterday when I was trying to make signers with raw hub-nodejs, I made it with makeSignerAdd, didn't know that signers are onchain now (should've read more about the OP migration!)

wonder if there's docs to make signer without Neynar?

of course, still going to use Neynar, but I'd be happy knowing I can just make it myself instead of relying on a service to make signers

planning to play with the submitMessage Hub endpoint

It's reassuring to have confidence in the Farcaster data provided by @neynar, as they are reading directly from the hubs. Not long ago I was expressing dissapointment to @rish that we weren't seeing many new clients being built, but now it feels like Neynar has supercharged the FC ecosystem.

Built this AI-assisted Farcaster bot using the operator.io API and @neynar.
